ܐܚܝ̈: ܨܒܿܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܫܬܥܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܘܒܪ̈ܐ ܫܦܝܪ̈ܐ ܘܡܫܡ̈ܠܝܐ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܕܬܕܡܘܪܬܐ ܘܕܩܘܠܣܐ: ܗܢܿܘܢ ܕܒܗܘܢ ܫܪܝ ܘܫܠܡ ܘܐܫܬܒܚ: ܕܚܿܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܡܨܪ ܨܘܪܬܐ ܕܨܠܡܐ ܦܐܝܐ ܘܕܕܘܡܪܐ ܕܫܒܝܚܘܬܐ ܕܕܘܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ. 1
Mes frères, je veux vous raconter la belle vie parfaite d’un homme digne d’admiration et d’éloge, vie qu’il a commencée et terminée et pour laquelle il a été loué; mais je crains de dépeindre l’image du portrait splendide et la gloire admirable de la vie de cet homme de Dieu. 1

Ce bienhereux avait donc des parents très riches; ils l’aimaient au-delà de la mesure de la nature humaine; et ils le fiancèrent dès son enfance dans l’espoir qu’il grandisse dans les charges d’honneur de ce monde. 1

Elle acheva ainsi sa vie et elle sortit du monde dans une bonne fin et avec des actes qui contentent Dieu. Mais moi l’auteur, je me dis à moi-même: «Malheur à moi, mes frères bien-aimés, car ceux-là sont morts en confiance et sont partis chez Dieu… et juge-moi digne de te bénir avec tous ceux qui ont plu à ta volonté, parce que te conviennent… Amen. 1
