Abstract

The Syriac text is a fragment that ends with "The account about Peter the Iberian is finished."10 It is disputed whether or not this is the remainder of a text from which the Georgian life of Peter the Iberian was translated (see "Ancient Versions" below).

"ܘܗܢܐ ܐܣܪܐ ܕܫܬܩܐ ܡܠܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܢܣܒܘ̣. ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܒܝܕ ܗܢܐ ܢܬܕܟܘܢ̣. ܘܢܐܠܦܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܓܪܝܓܪܝܘܣ ܐܡܿܪ. ܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܘܕܫܬܩܐ܀"1 "Et ils acceptèrent ce lien du silence temporaire pour grâce à lui se purifier et apprendre, comme dit Grégoire «la mesure de la parole et du silence»."1
