Abstract

The Gospel of Mark (Peshitta version) [http://syriaca.org/work/73] is a designation for a group of texts translating the Greek Gospel of Mark, beginning in the early 5th century and appearing in manuscripts as early as the 5th or 6th century. It bears similarities to previous Syriac translations, the Diatessaron [http://syriaca.org/work/10537] and Mark (Old Syriac) [http://syriaca.org/work/9514] , but its exact relationship to these versions is still a matter of debate, as is the uniformity of the text itself. It generally reflects the Greek more closely than Mark (Old Syriac) [http://syriaca.org/work/9514] does.112, 113, 114
