ܣܒܐ ܕܐܝܟ ܡܘܫܐ ܡܥܛܦ ܬܪܥܘܬܐ ܘܡܨܐ ܕܢܣܘܓ ܬܘܪ̈ܥܬܐ ܒܨܠܘ̈ܬܗ ܘܟܕ ܗܘ ܢܘܗܪܗ ܠܗ ܡܢܗܪ ܗܘܐ ܕܢ̣ܚܘ ܙܠܝ̈ܩܘܗܝ ܒܐܬܪ̈ܘܬܢ ܕܘܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܟ ܬܠܡܝ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܐܙܠܓܘ ܒܬܪܢ. 1

Pour ce qui est des vêtements, des ornements, des aliments, des vins, des fréquentations, des occupations, de la fatigue et du souci de la vie, choses dans lesquelles nous-mêmes sommes avilis, tout cela était pour cet illustre saint une faiblesse, même si nous le mentionnons chez lui. 1
