"ܒܝܘ̈ܡܬܐ ܕܕܝܘܩܠܛܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ: ܐܝܬ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܒܬܒܐܝܣ ܗܓܡܘܢܐ: ܕܫܡܗ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܐܪܝܢܘܣ. ܘܗܘ ܗܢܐ ܗܓܡܘܢܐ ܣܠܩ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܠܡܨܪܝܢ: ܘܡܬܟܪܟ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܘܒܥܿܐ ܠܟܪ̈ܣܛܝܢܐ: ܕܢܕܒܚܘܢ ܠܐܠܗ̈ܐ. ܘܐܙܠ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܐ ܐܢܛܪܝܐ: ܘܐܝܬ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܒܗ ܒܗܘܿ ܐܬܪܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ: ܘܫܡܗ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܦܦܢܘܛ."1 "Aux jours de l’empereur Dioclétien, il y avait en Thébaïde un gouverneur appelé Arianos. Et ce gouverneur était monté en Égypte et il circulait en demandant aux chrétiens de sacrifier aux dieux. Il arriva dans une ville appelée Antéria et il y avait dans cette région un homme appelé Paphnuce."1

"ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܗܢܿܘܢ ܕܩܒܠܘ ܟܠܝ̈ܠܐ ܕܙܟܘܬܐ: ܘܫܘܘ ܘܐܦ ܠܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܩܕܝܫܬܐ ܒܝܕ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܦܦܢܘܛ: ܚܡܫܡܐܐ ܘܐܪܒܥܝܢ ܘܫܬܐ. ܕܒܐܝܙܓܕܘܬܗܘܢ ܘܒܨ̈ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܚܠܦܝܢ... ܐܡܝܢ."1 "Le nombre de ceux qui reçurent la couronne de la victoire et furent jugés digne du saint martyre grâce au bienheureux Paphnuce fut de 546.
