Mes bien-aimés, tout ce qu’a écrit Moïse, grand parmi les prophètes, comme une loi reçue de Dieu, n’est pas sans utilité, car c’est la loi qui a été pour nous révélatrice du Christ, selon la parole de l’Économie, comme a dit et nous a instruit l’apôtre Paul. 1

Or, mes bien-aimés, ce grand et parfaitement pieux Abbâ Macaire, homme saint et pur, était le fils de parents justes et d’une famille honorable, connue et vertueuse, selon Dieu et selon les hommes, qui vivaient dans la crainte de Dieu en le servant avec zèle… 1

Alors notre Sauveur Jésus-Christ, qu’il avait aimé de tout son coeur, le déroba et le leur cacha et il le fit entrer dans ses demeures glorieuses. Qu’il advienne et qu’il nous soit confirmé que nous soyons jugés dignes de ces demeures desquelles a été jugé digne notre saint Père Abbâ Macaire, par la grâce, la miséricorde et l’amour pour les hommes de notre Seigneur… Amen. 1
