"ܐܡܪ ܐܒܐ ܕܢܝܐܝܠ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܩܝܬܝܣ. ܕܐܙܠܬ ܒܙܒܢ ܠܬܝܒܐܝܣ ܥܡ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝ̈ܕܝ ܘܝܬܒܢܢ ܒܐܠܦܐ ܘܢܚܬܢܢ ܠܢܗܪܐ."1 "Le prêtre Abbâ Daniel de Scété dit: “Un jour j’allai en Thébaïde avec un de mes disciples et nous nous assîmes dans un bateau et nous descendîmes au fleuve."1

Abbâ Daniel révéla cela à son disciple à son retour de Thébaïde. Il nous échoit d’admirer la miséricorde de Dieu qui en même temps exalte et abaissse comme dans notre affaire. Priez pour que nous aussi soyons abaissés par la crainte de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ pour que nous trouvions miséricorde devant le tribunal puissant, par le grand nombre des prières de tous les saints. Amen."1
