ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܐܠܟܣܢܕܪܝܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܒܙܒܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܡܝܩܪܐ: ܕܫܡܗ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܦܦܢܘܛܝܣ: ܕܡܬܬܪܓܡ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ: ܘܚܦܝܛ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܒܟܠܫܥ ܕܢܫܡܠܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ. 1
Il était une fois dans la ville d’Alexandrie un homme honorable qui s’appelait Paphnuce, ce qui se traduit “serviteur de Dieu”; et il était toujours appliqué à exécuter tous les commandements de Dieu. 1

Il vécut dans ce monastère dix ans et il partit vers son Seigneur avec une belle vie; et il fut enterré près des ossements de sa fille Euphrosyne. À Dieu qui lui a donné perfection et victoire, qui l’a gardée du démon dans sa providence et selon la volonté duquel elle a mené au terme le combat de sa vie, gloire et honneur… Amen. 1
