ܐܚ̈ܝ ܬܘ ܢܣܩ ܠܗ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܠܓܢܝܙܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܢ ܛܒܐ ܘܒܣܝܡܐ܇ ܗܘ ܕܒܓܙܐ ܕܚܢܢܗ ܐܬܕܟܪ ܚܘܒܗ ܕܐܒܘܢ ܐܕܡ 1
Mes frères, venez, rendons gloire au mystère de notre Dieu bon et aimable, lui qui, dans le trésor de sa tendresse, s’est souvenu de notre Père le premier Adam et s’est manifesté à ses enfants au temps de leurs souffrances. 1

ܒܗ ܕܝܢ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗܘܿ: ܕܟܕ ܪܬܚܐ ܕܚܘܒܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܝܩܕ ܒܢ: ܕܢܦܘܩ ܢܬܒܪܟ ܡܢ ܐܢܫܐ ܩܕܝ̈ܫܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܡܕܒܪܐ: ܡܫܬܥܝܢ ܗܘ̣ܘ ܩܕܡܝܢ ܐܢܫܐ ܐܒܗ̈ܬܐ: ܥܠ ܕܘܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܚܠܝ̈ܨܐ ܕܣܪܦܝܘܢ ܐܒܝܠܐ. 1
Or en ce temps-là, alors que la ferveur de l’amour de Dieu avait brûlé en nous, pour que nous sortions pour être bénis par les saints hommes qui étaient au désert, des Pères nous racontèrent la vie vaillante de Sérapion l’ermite. 1

Et ils louèrent et confessèrent Dieu; et ils quittèrent cet endroit en faisant chaque année mémoire de sa mort. Que le Seigneur qui a couronné le bienheureux fasse abonder sa prospérité et sa paix… Amen. Quand Théophile, archevêque d’Alexandrie, apprit la mort de Sérapion… et sa lampe luit à l’huile de sa vie; que par ses prières… Amen. Quiconque trouvera ces lettres, qu’il donne le pardon au misérable qui a écrit… et le Seigneur donne à l’auditeur tendresse et miséricorde au jour du jugement définitif de ceux d’en-haut et d’en-bas. Amen. 1
