“Mes bien-aimés, longtemps après le meurtre du matyr Mâr Bassos, un moine du monastère de Mâr Bassos près du village de Hedel dans la région du Tour Abdîn — son nom était Rabban David — voulut aller prier dans la ville sainte de Jérusalem.” 1

“Et il leur écrivit les louanges qu’ils méritaient. Et nous supplions le Christ qu’à la prière de la sainte Vierge Mère de Dieu Marie… et aux quatre coins du monde. Et ceux qui participent par des ex-voto, des dîmes, des offrandes et des prémices offerts au nom de saint Mâr Bassos… un pour trente, et pour soixante et pour cent. Et sur l’écrivain de cette histoire, et sur celui qui l’a ramenée de la région d’Émèse… et un autre monastère près du village de Hedel et un autre, celui qui est près de la ville d’Émèse et sur tous… Amen. Et quiconque prononce et fait mémoire de Mâr Bassos… Amen.” 1
