“ܕܚܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܡܛܠ ܒܘܨܪ̈ܝ܆ ܘܙܐܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܫܬܘܩ ܡܛܠ ܥܘܕܪ̈ܢܝ. ܩܢܛܗ̇ ܕܚܐܪܘܬܐ ܡܣܪܕ ܠܝ ܕܫܠܝ܆ ܘܚܘܒܗ” 1
“J’ai peur de parler à cause de mes manquements, et je crains de me taire à cause de mes bénéfices. La crainte de la liberté m’épouvante moi qui me suis tu; et l’amour de la volonté me réconforte moi qui ai parlé.” 1

“(En l’an 36 de notre persécution, sous le règne de Shabour roi de Perse, fut accompli le martyre de ces quarante martyrs.) Abdîshô‘ était évêque de la région de Kashkar; et c’était un homme pieux et juste dans sa charge.” 1
