ܕܚܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܡܛܠ ܒܘܨܪ̈ܝ܆ ܘܙܐܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܫܬܘܩ ܡܛܠ ܥܘܕܪ̈ܢܝ. ܩܢܛܗ̇ ܕܚܐܪܘܬܐ ܡܣܪܕ ܠܝ ܕܫܠܝ܆ ܘܚܘܒܗ 1
J’ai peur de parler à cause de mes manquements, et je crains de me taire à cause de mes bénéfices. La crainte de la liberté m’épouvante moi qui me suis tu; et l’amour de la volonté me réconforte moi qui ai parlé. 1

ܒܫܢܬ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܫܬ ܕܪܕܘܦܝܢ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܫܒܘܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܦܪܣܝܐ ܣܗܕܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܗܠܝܢ ܣܗ̈ܕܐ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܡܫܬܡܠܝܐ ܗܘܬ. ܥܒܕܝܫܘܥ ܐܦܣܩܘܦܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܕܐܬܪܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܟܫܟܪ̈ܝܐ: ܘܓܒܪܐ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܙܗܝܐ ܘܟܐܢܐ ܒܕܪܓܗ. 1
(En l’an 36 de notre persécution, sous le règne de Shabour roi de Perse, fut accompli le martyre de ces quarante martyrs.) Abdîshô‘ était évêque de la région de Kashkar; et c’était un homme pieux et juste dans sa charge. 1

Ces saints furent couronnées le vingt-deux du même mois lunaire de Iyar. Et leurs cadavres furent également emportés cette même nuit, et des hommes croyants de cette ville les enterrèrent. 1
