"Alors que selon la parole du sage je suis sur le point de parler, ô notre père spirituel, ??? dans l’amour et à la vie remarquable, Jules, donne à quiconque te demande et ne résiste pas à qui t’interroge, je me suis laissé convaincre d’accomplir ta volonté."1 "ܟܕ ܥܠ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܚܟܝܡܐ ܡܩܝܡܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ. ܐܘ ܐܒܘܢ ܪܘܚܢܐ ܘܕܫܒܐ ܒܚܘܒܐ ܘܡܝܩܪ ܒܕܘܒܪ̈ܐ ܝܘܠܝܘܣ ܘܟܠ ܕܒܥܐ ܠܟ ܗܒ ܠܗ. ܘܕܫܐܠ ܡܢܟ ܠܐ ܬܟܠܝܘܗܝ ܐܬܛܦܝܣܬ ܕܐܫܡܠܐ ܨܒܝܢܟ."1

"ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܡܪܝ ܐܦܪܝܡ. ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ. ܐܒܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܢܨܝܒܝܢ ܘܐܡܗ ܡܢ ܐܡܕ. ܥܕܟܝܠ ܠܐ ܫܩܝܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܢܨܝܒܝܢ ܠܦܪ̈ܣܝܐ."1 "Or saint Mâr Éphrem était Syrien. Son Père était de Nisibe et sa mère d’Amid; Nisibe n’avait pas encore été prise par les Perses."1
