"ܗܢܐ ܕܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܠܒܫ ܐܣܟܡܐ ܕܕܝܪܝܘܬܐ ܒܥܘܡܪܐ ܕܡܪܝ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܕܟܡܘܠ ܠܘܬ ܪܝܫ ܥܘܡܪܐ ܡܪܝ ܣܒܪ ܝܫܘܥ. ܘܡܢ ܕܠܒܫ ܠܐܣܟܡܐ ܐܬܢܙܪ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܪ̈ܓܝܓܬܐ."1 "Quand il vint au monastère de Mâr Jean de Kamoul chez le supérieur Mâr Sabrîsho‘, il revêtit l’habit monastique; après qu’il eut revêtu l’habit, il s’abstint de tout désir."1
