"ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܘܬܗ ܕܢܨܝܚܐ ܡܪܝ ܫܡܘܐܝܠ: ܐܘܣܦ ܡܪܝ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܥܠ ܨܠܘܬܗ ܘܨܘܡܗ ܒܐܥܦ̈ܐ ܣܓܝܐ̈ܐ."1 "Après la mort du vaillant Mâr Samuel, Mâr Syméon multiplia beaucoup sa prière et son jeûne."1
