Abstract

John (Old Syriac version) [http://syriaca.org/work/9516] is the earliest extant translation of John (literary tradition) [http://syriaca.org/work/9641] into Syriac as a "separated Gospel" (not a Gospel harmony). It was probably translated in the 4th or 5th century (though its roots may date to the 3rd), and it predates John (Peshitta version) [http://syriaca.org/work/75] , which ultimately replaced it in the 5th or 6th century.7
