Abstract

A Syriac translation of a Greek work which is no longer extant. The authorship of this anti-Chalcedonian life of Peter the Iberian is unknown and disputed, but widely thought to be John Rufus, since the author appears to have been a close associate of Peter. The lawyer Theodore of Ashkelon has been suggested, but he is mentioned in ways that seem to distinguish him from the author of the text. Zacharias Rhetor, who wrote about Peter in his chronicle, is not known to have actually met him.6, 14, 13, 15, 16

Amen. 1
