    ܐܦܢ ܓܝܪ ܢܨܚܢܗ ܕܩܕܝܫܐ ܦܠܘܝܢܘܣ ܐܦܣܩܘܦܐ ܕܐܢܛܝܟܝܐ: ܘܓܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܝܬܪܘܬܗ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܿ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢܢ ܠܡܐܡܪ: ܚܕܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܚܝܠܘܬܢ: ܘܕܬܪܬܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܪܒܘܬܗ: ܘܕܬܠܬ ܕܐܦܠܐ ܫܪܒܐ ܕܕܘܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܕܢܨ̈ܚܢܘܗܝ ܒܚܕܐ ܟܢܝܫܘ ܐܫܟܚܢܢ̣. ܐܠܐ ܟܕ ܬܟܝܠܝܢܢ ܥܠ ܨܠܘ̈ܬܗܘܢ ܕܟܫܝܪ̈ܐ̣. ܡܢܣܝܢܢ ܠܡܚܘܝܘ ܒܦܣܝ̈ܩܬܐ. 1
    Bien que nous ne puissions pas dire les exploits de saint Flavien, évêque d’Antioche, et sa vertu de choix tels qu’ils sont — premièrement à cause de notre faiblesse, deuxièmement à cause de sa grandeur, et troisièmement parce que nous n’avons même pas trouvé en un recueil l’histoire de sa vie et des ses exploits — cependant, confiants dans les prières des hommes vaillants, nous essayerons de les montrer brièvement. 1

    ܟܕ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܐܒܗ̈ܐ ܝܕܝ̈ܥܐ ܐܬܝܠܕ ܢܨܝܚܐ̣. ܐܠܐ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܗ ܕܫܗ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܟܠܗ ܘܪ̈ܓܝܓܬܗ. ܘܓܒܐ ܠܗ ܢܙܝܪܘܬܐ ܕܡܢ ܙܘܘܓܐ. 1
    Alors que le vaillant homme était né de parents célèbres, dès sa jeunesse il foula aux pieds le monde entier et ses désirs et choisit pour lui le célibat. 1

    ܡܢ ܒܬܪܟܢ ܕܝܢ ܒܫܠܝܐ ܘܒܢܘܚܐ ܕܒܪ ܥܕܬܗ ܡܢ ܗܝܕܝܢ. ܟܕ ܠܝܬ ܣܛܢܐ ܘܐܦܠܐ ܦܓܥܐ ܒܝܫܐ. ܗܠܝܢ ܕܡܝܬܪܘܬܗ ܕܛܘܒܢܐ ܦܠܘܝܢܐ ܣܦܩ̈ܢ. ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܫܟܚܝܢܢ ܕܠܟܠܗܝܢ ܢܟܢܫ. 1
    Par la suite il administra son Église dans la paix et la tranquillité, sans qu’il y eût de satan ni d’événement malheureux. Cex exemples de la vertu du bienheureux Flavien suffisent car nous ne pouvons pas les rassembler tous. 1
