ܒܙܒ̈ܢܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܡܡܠܟ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܛܪܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ: ܐܬܥܠܠ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܒܗ ܗܘܿ ܣܢܐܐ ܕܛܒ̈ܬܐ ܘܨܢܝܥܐ ܐܟܠܩܪܨܐ: ܘܫܪܐ ܒܗ ܘܕܠܚܗ ܥܠ ܟܪ̈ܣܛܝܢܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܗܘ̣ܘ ܒܡܫܝܚܐ: ܕܢܬܐܠܨܘܢ ܘܢܕܒܚܘܢ ܠܐܠܗ̈ܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܡܐ.1 En ces temps où régnait l’empereur Trajan, l’ennemi du bien et le rusé démon s’introduit en lui; il habita en lui et l’excita contre les chrétiens croyant au Christ pour qu’ils soient opprimés et sacrifient aux dieux sans âmes.1

ܘܟܕ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܩܒܠ ܩܣܛܘܢܪܐ: ܫܡܛ ܣܝܦܐ: ܘܠܪܫܗ ܕܩܕܝܫܐ ܫܩܠ. ܘܐܬܟܠܠ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܡܩܪܝܘܣ ܒܐܝܪܚ ܐܝܠܘܠ ܠܝܘ̈ܡܬܐ ܬܠܬܥܣܪ ܒܝܪܚܐ: ܒܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܕܘܩܠܝܛܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ. ܘܒܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܡܡܠܟ ܡܪܢ... ܐܡܝܢ.1 Et quand le bourreau eut reçu l’ordre, il tira son épée et décapita le saint. Et saint Macaire fut couronné le 13 Éloul sous le règne de l’empereur Dioclétien. Et sur nous règne notre Seigneur… Amen.1
