“Une est donc la race des esclaves et des hommes libres, quand elle est connue par la crainte de Dieu et quand elle brile dans la foi en Dieu, en condamnant le démon, en méprisant le mal et en incriminant son pouvoir en fait inexistant et son vain orgueil sans force.”1 “ܚܕ ܗܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܓܢܣܐ ܕܥܒ̈ܕܐ ܘܕܒܢܝ̈ ܘܐܪ̈ܙܐ: ܡܐ ܕܒܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܬܝܕܥ: ܘܐܡܬܝ ܕܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܥܠ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܬܢܨܚ: ܟܕ ܒܣܪ ܠܒܥܠܕܒܒܐ ܘܡܗܠ ܒܒܝܫܐ ܘܡܟܣ ܠܗ ܒܫܘܠܛܢܗ: ܕܠܐ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܡܕܡ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ: ܘܠܝܬ ܚܝܠܐ ܒܫܘܒܗܪܗ ܟܕܒܐ.”1

“ܐܬܬܚܕ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܢܣܝܡܘܣ ܛܘܒܢܐ: ܩܕܡ ܒܝܡ ܕܛܪܛܘܠܘܣ ܐܝܬܝܘܗܝ ܒܪܗܘܡܝ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ.”1 “En effet le bienheureux Onésime fut pris et on l’emmena devant le tribunal de Tertullus dans la ville de Rome.”1
