“ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܘܩܘܒܠ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܠܐܒܐ ܘܠܒܪܐ ܘܠܪܘܚܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ܇ ܗܘ ܕܡܕܟܐ ܘܡܙܗܐ ܠܩܕܝܫ̈ܘܗܝ܇ ܐܝܟܢܐ”1 1
“Gloire, louange et action de grâces au Père, au Fils et au Saint Esprit, lui qui donne pureté et splendeur à ses saints pour qu’ils brillent comme des étoiles scintillantes pour ceux qui se trouvent dans l’obscurité et dans les ombres de la mort.”1 1

“ܐܬܝܬ ܒܙܒܢ ܠܐܠܟܣܢܕܪܝܐ: ܕܐܨܠܐ ܒܗܝܟܠܐ ܕܩܕܝ̈ܫܐ ܘܥܛܝ̈ܦܝ ܙܟܘܬܐ ܡܪܝ ܩܘܪܐ ܘܡܪܝ ܝܘܚܢܢ. ܘܒܚܕ ܡܢ ܝܘ̈ܡܝܢ: ܟܕ ܡܬܟܪܟ ܐܢܐ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ: ܝܬܒܬ ܨܝܕ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܒܢܝ̈ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ: ܓܒܪܐ ܢܟܦܐ ܘܩܕܝܫܐ.”1 1
“Je vins une fois à Alexandrie pour prier dans le temple des saints et victorieux Mâr Cyr et Mâr Jean. Et un jour, alors que je circulais dans la ville, je m’assis près d’un citoyen de cette ville, homme saint et vénérable.”1 1

“Et alors que la foule chantait des hymnes et des louanges spirituelles, soudain la tombe de l’illustre Jean fit couler une huile de très bonne odeur. Et tous ceux qui étaient présents communièrent à cette bénédiction et glorifièrent le Père et le Fils… Amen. Le couronnement du saint et bienheureux Jean eut lieu le 29 Teshrî II. Que sa prière soit avec nous.”1 1
