“ܒܙܒܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܛܪܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ: ܐܝܬ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܕܫܡܗ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܦܠܩܝܕܘܣ: ܘܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܐܣܛܪܛܠܛܝܣ. ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܛܘܒܢܐ: ܝܕܝܥܐ ܕܣܘܢܩܠܛܘܣ ܕܝܠܗ ܕܛܪܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘ̣ܐ.”1 “Car au temps de l’empereur Trajan, il y avait un homme dont le nom était Placide, général; or ce bienheureux était un membre connu du conseil de l’empereur Trajan.”1

“Pendant la nuit la communauté des chrétiens courut en cachette et ils prirent les corps des saints et les placèrent en un lieu adapté et ils y restèrent enfermés en attendant que s’apaisât la persécution, pour pouvoir construire sur eux un martyrion, tout en faisant chaque annéeune grande commémoration de leur martyre, le vingt Éloul. Tel fut l’accomplissement de la grande gloire et de la louange des premiers et derniers combats de ces vaillants combattants portant la victoire de leur courage, Eustathe et son épouse Théopista et ses fils Agapios et Théopistos. Quiconque est jugé digne de faire leur commémoration… Amen.”1
