ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܫܢܝܢܐ ܒܩܘܪܝܬ ܡܕܝܢܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܦܪܦܝܪܘܢܐ ܕܫܡܗ ܗܘܐ ܝܥܩܘܒ. ܗܢܐ ܟܕ ܦܪܫ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܢ ܣܪܝܩܘܬܗ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܥܡܪ ܒܡܥܪܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܚܡܫܥܣܪ̈ܐ ܫܢܝ̈ܢ. 1
Il y avait un homme errant dans une petite ville appelée Parpîrônâ, dont le nom était Jacques. Se séparant de la vanité de ce monde, il vécut quinze ans dans une grotte. 1

Après cela le vénérable prêtre de Dieu construisit à côté de la grotte un oratoire et il y amena les ossements du saint qui restèrent à cet endroit jusqu’à aujourd’hui. De nombreuses gurérisons sont accomplies et des démons expulsés. Toute la ville et tous les habitants des alentours, lors de la célébration de sa mémoire faisaient une grande fête, pour la gloire du Christ… Amen. 1
