"ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܗܢܐ ܡܟܣܝܡܘܣ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܚܨܦܝܢ ܩܪܝܬܐ. ܬܡܢ ܓܝܪ ܐܬܝܠܕ ܗܘܐ. ܙܝܙܢܐ ܗܢܐ ܡܪܝܪܐ̣. ܐܒܘܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܫܡܪܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܫܟܪ̣. ܘܐܡܗ ܦܪܣܝܬܐ. ܘܐܝܬܝܗܿ ܗܘܬ ܐܡܬܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ. ܕܫܡܗ ܗܘܐ ܙܕܘܩ. ܡܢ ܛܝܒܝܪܝܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ."1 "Ce Maxime était du village de Hesfîn, car c’est là que naquit cette mauvaise herbe amère; son père était Samaritain de Sichar et sa mère Persane, esclave d’un homme juif appelé Zadôq, de la ville de Tibériade."1
