Mes bien-aimés, quand le glorieux Mâr Jean bar Penkayé se fut élevé tout en haut des vertus, et qu’il eut franchi le fleuve des passions que désire la chair, il abattit et vainquit les troupes du mal par ses saintes prières. 1

Et son saint corps fut placé dans le grand monastère de Mâr Jean de Kamoul. Par ses prières et celles de tous les saints qui ont servi notre Seigneur, puissions-nous être tous jugés dignes de l’expiation de nos fautes, du pardon de nos péchés et des délices du royaume des cieux, nous et nos défunts et tous les défunts croyants par la prière de la Mère de Dieu Marie et de tous les saints. À Dieu gloire éternelle dans les siècles des siècles. Amen. 1
