“Alodia was a Nubian kingdom located to the south of Nobadia and Makouria. Joh.Eph., EH 4.48-53, narrates the missionary work of the miaphysite bishop Longinus there in the late 570s. In 4.53 and 55, John adds that Alodia was also known under the name Ethiopia (ܐܬܝܘܦܝܐ).”1
