Zaʿūra was an anchorite whose life was
memorialized by John of Ephesus. He
was a stylite saint who famously replaced his teacher, another stylite, when the former
was ready to retire. Zaʿūra also travelled to Constantinople in order to advocate for the cause of the Miaphysites before
the Empress Theodora.
