http://syriaca.org/person/1321
In hagiography: John of Edessa was a priest
from Edessa who nourished 12 holy
men in a cave. He became friends with Paul of Edessa, his workman, who was actually a Latin bishop in
disguise. The two lived a life of prayer and spiritual companionship. They travelled
to Sinai. Back in Edessa, they interacted
with Matthew the eunuch, a woman hiding in a monastery. They
travelled to Jerusalem. Paul
performed miracles and fled to Nisibis. John found him there, and Paul told him to return to Edessa. Paul died, and John died 8 months
later. The story was set in the time of the Bishop Rabbula of Edessa.
