"ܒܫܢܬܐ ܫܒܝܥܝܬܐ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܩܘܣܛܢܛܝܢܘܣ̣. ܒܐܝܪܚ ܟܢܘܢ ܐܚܪܝܐ̣. ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܚܝ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܕܒܪܒܪ̈ܝܐ ܥܠ ܓܒ ܢܗܪܐ ܚܕ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܕܘܢܒܝܣ. ܕܢܥܒܪܘܢ ܘܢܚܪܒܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܐܘܚܕܢܐ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܪ̈ܘܡܝܐ."1 "En la septième année du règne de Constantin, au mois de janvier, les forces des Barbares s’étaient rassemblées au bord d’un fleuve appelé Danube pour le traverser et dévaster tout le territoire de l’Empire romain."1
