Prologue

"Mes frères, c’est l’habitude des hommes sages, prudents et savants de cacher leurs trésors à tous les hommes, et même à leurs enfants et à leurs héritiers tant qu’il sont des enfants."1 "ܥܝܕܐ ܗܘ ܗܢܐ ܐܚ̈ܝ ܐܦ ܠܚܟܝܡ̈ܐ ܘܣܟܘ̈ܠܬܢܐ ܘܝܕܘ̈ܥܐ ܕܡܟܣܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܣܝ̈ܡܬܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝܢܫ̈ܐ. ܘܐܦ ܡܢ ܒܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܝܪ̈ܬܝܗܘܢ ܟܡܐ ܕܠܛܝܢ."1

"ܟܕ ܡ̣ܛܐ ܕܝܢ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܦܣܝܩ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܕܥܬܗ. ܐܫܪܝ ܫܟܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܘܬܗ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܟܐܢܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܐ. ܕܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܕܘܝܕ ܡܬܝܒܠ ܗܘܐ ܓܢܣܗ. ܝܘܢܟܝܪ ܫܡܗ ܗܘܐ ܒܪ ܡܬܢ. ܒܪ ܐܠܝܥܙܪ. ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܒܪ ܕܘܝܕ."1 "Quand arriva le temps fixé par sa connaissance, il fixa la demeure de sa divinité dans la maison d’un homme droit et juste dont la famille descendait de David, appelé Yônakhîr, fils de Matthan, fils d’Éléazar, de la tribu de Salomon fils de David."1
