ܐܬܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܝܠܝܕܘܬܗ ܕܩܕܝܫܐ ܘܡܚܒܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܝ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܥܪܒܝܐ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܐ ܕܢܩ̈ܘܦܠܝܐ ܫܡܗܿ ܕܝܢ ܕܩܪܝܬܗ ܨܝܨ: ܐܒ̈ܗܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܡ̈ܗܝܡܢܐ: ܘܝܗܒܘ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ܥܕ ܗܘ ܗܘܐ ܙܥܘܪܐ.
Le lieu de naissance du saint et ami de Dieu Mâr Syméon était en Arabie, dans la région de Nicopolis et le nom de son village était Sîs; il avait des parents croyants qui lui donnèrent le baptême alors qu’il était encore petit.
ܘܠܡܚܣܢ ܒܗܿ ܒܗܕܐ ܐܬܛܦܝܣ ܕܢܫܒܩܝܘܗܝ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ: ܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܕܐ ܟܠܗܿ ܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܐܘܪܒܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܕܝܩܪ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܝܩܪ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܣܬܓܕ ܡܢ ܐܢ̈ܫܐ.
Cela le convainquit difficilement de le laisser chez eux, tellement Dieu l’avait exalté; et parce qu’il avait honoré Dieu, il fut honoré par Dieu et vénéré par les hommes.
