ܒܙܒܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܒܥܘܡܪܐ ܕܝܠܢ ܐܝܬܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ. ܕܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܐܡܕ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ: ܩܕܡ ܕܢܬܪܕܦ ܡܢ ܗܪ̈ܝܛܝܩܘ: ܒܙܒܢܐ ܕܬܫܪܝ ܐܚܪܝ̣. ܨܒ ܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܟܣܢܝܐ ܕܠܒܝܫ ܗܘܐ ܡ̈ܐܢܐ ܨ̈ܐܐ ܘܕܒ̈ܠܝܝܢ ܛܒ.
Une fois où nous étions dans notre monastère à côté de la ville d’Amid, avant qu’il ne soit persécuté par les hérétiques, au mois de Teshrî II, était arrivé chez nous un étranger habillé de vêtements sales et très usés.
ܐܠܗܐ ܕܦܠܚ ܢܘܓܪܐ ܕܫ̈ܢܝܐ̣. ܢܘܪܒ ܕܘܟܪܢܗ ܥܡ ܕܩ̈ܕܝܫܐ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܨܒܝܢܗ. ܘܕܩܕܝܫܬܐ ܝܿܠܕܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܝܡ̣. ܘܚܢܢ ܢܬܥܕܪ ܒܝܕ ܨܠܘܬܗܘܢ̣. ܐܡܝܢ ܘܐܡܝܢ.
