ܪܢܝܐ ܕܬܕܡܘܪܬܐ ܘܚܘܦܛܐ ܕܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܓܪܓܬܘܢ ܒܫܩܠ ܛܥܢܐ ܕܦܘܪܫܢܟܘܢ ܒܐ̈ܚܐ ܝܚ̈ܝܕܝܐ ܕܒܡܨܪܝܢ: ܕܒܐܡܝܢܘܬܐ ܕܗܘܓܝܐ ܕܫܪ̈ܒܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܬܬܢܬܦ ܬܪܥܝܬܗܘܢ ܠܓܡܝܪܘܬܐ. 1

Le bienheureux Antoine était par sa famille Égyptien, de grande extraction noble et, conformément à sa fortune, il possédait des esclaves. Il avait des parents croyants, et dès sa plus tendre enfance il grandit dans la crainte de notre Seigneur. 1
