"Le discours que nous allons prononcer est au-dessus de notre force, et multiple est le genre de cette histoire qui est à la fois un éloge et un martyre semblable aux souffrances de nore Seigneur Jésus."1

"ܒܝܘ̈ܡܝ ܕܘܩܠܝܛܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ ܗܘܐ ܟܕ ܐܬܠܒܟ ܛܘܒܬܢܐ ܦܛܪܘܣ: ܡܢ ܛܪ̈ܝܒܘܢܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܫܬܕܪܘ ܒܗܘܿ ܙܒܢܐ ܡܢ ܡܠܟܐ: ܘܟܕ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܩܐܿܡ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܪܕܘܦܝܐ: ܘܐܬܪܡܝ ܒܝܬ ܐܣܝܪ̈ܐ."1 "Aux jours de l’empereur Dioclétien, quand le bienheureux Pierre fut capturé par les tribuns envoyés en ce temps-là par l’empereur, c’était encore la persécution et il fut jeté en prison."1
