“ܒܙܒܢܗ ܒܫܢܬ ܐܪܒܥ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܢܘܡܪܝܢܘܣ ܡܠܟܐ ܥܘܠܐ: ܦܩܕ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܝܢ̈ܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܒܫܘܠܛܢܗ ܟܠܗ: ܕܢܣܓܘܢ ܕܒܚ̈ܐ ܘܢܘ̈ܩܝܐ ܒܟܠܗܝܢ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܬܐ ܕܫܘܠܛܢܗ. ܘܟܕ ܗܢܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܢܦܩ ܗܘ̣ܐ: ܪܕܘܦܝܐ ܩܫܝܐ ܥܠ ܟܪ̈ܣܛܝܢܐ ܬܟܒ ܗܘ̣ܐ: ܘܥܩ̈ܬܐ ܥܠ ܥܡܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܣܓ̈ܝܢ ܗܘ̣ܝ.” 1
“À l’époque (La quatrième année du règne) de l’empereur impie Numérien, il ordonna à tous les juges de tout son Empire de multiplier les sacrifices et les libations dans toutes les villes de son Empire. Et quand sortit cet édit, une persécution violente opprima les chrétiens et des tribulations nombreuses s’abattirent sur le peuple du Christ.” 1
