“ܐܚܝ̈ ܕܒܡܫܝܚܐ: ܘܚܒܝ̈ܒܝ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ: ܫܡܥܘ ܡܢܝ ܕܐܫܪܐ ܘܐܡܠܠ ܥܠ ܡܝܬܪܘܬܐ ܘܢܨܚܢ̈ܐ ܕܕܘܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܐܒܘܢ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܐܒܐ ܒܝܫܘܝ.” 1

“Les parents de notre Père Abba Bîshôy étaient des gens droits et justes, craignant Dieu et amis des églises et pratiquant l’aumône. Leur famille était originaire de la région d’Arabie en Égypte, d’un village appelé Basînbyâ; c’étaient des gens chastes et purs de leurs corps.” 1

“Il accomplit la plus grande partie de ses actions en cachette pour qu’elles ne soient pas connues; mais celles qui furent connues et dont il sera fait mémoire à jamais sont peu nombreuses, que les ascètes ou moines vertueux ont atteintes, eux qui se sont approchés de Dieu grâce à lui dans ce désert.” 1
