Parce que le peuple enragé des juifs avait l’habitude d’outrager son Dieu en tout temps, ils trouvèrent une occasion aux jours de l’empereur impie Trajan, celui qui s’accorda avec la rage des juifs. 1

Leurs noms sont: le premier, Jacques, frère du Sauveur, après lui Simon fils de Cléophas, Justus, Zachée, Tobie, Benjamin, Jean, Matthieu, Philippe, Denys, Justus, Lévi, Éphrem, Joseph, et un autre qui fut le quinzième, Jude surnommé Cyriaque, aux jours duquel fut retrouvée pour la deuxième fois la croix de notre Seigneur le Christ. Jusqu’ici nous avons écrit comment le peuple maudit et enragé des juifs prit la croix de notre Seigneur des mains de l’évêque Simon et comment ils l’enterrèrent dans une fosse de vingt brasses qu’ils avaient creusée dans la terre. 1
