"ܐܦܝܦܢ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܕܝܗ̈ܘܕܝܐ. ܐܬܝܠܕ ܕܝܢ ܒܩܪܝܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܐ ܕܠܘܬ ܪܘܦܘܠܝܣ ܕܪܚܝܩܐ ܗܘܬ ܡܢܗܿ ܡܢ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܬܠܬܐ ܡ̈ܠܝܢ ܘܣܝܡܐ ܒܐܬܪܐ ܕܦܘܢܝܩܐ."1 "Le bienheureux Épiphane était d’origine juive. Il fut élevé dans un village de la campagne de Ropolis, éloigné de la ville de trois milles, et situé dans le pays de Phénicie."1
