"ܡܘܫܐ ܒܪ ܟܐܦܐ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܕܫܡܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܫܗܕ ܟܘܚܝܠ ܘܐܡܗ ܡܪܝܡ ܡܢ ܒܠܕ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܡܘܨܠ ܕܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܕܩܠܬ."1 "Le père de Moïse bar Kéfa s’appelait Simon originaire de Mashad Kôhayl et sa mère Marie était de la ville de Balad au-dessus de Mossoul sur le bord du Tigre."1
