"ܗܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܡܪܝ ܡܥܝܢ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܫܝܓܪ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܦܪ̈ܣܝܐ. ܘܣܓܝ ܐܬܪܕܝ ܒܣܦܪܐ ܘܒܡܓܘܫܘܬܐ."1 "Or donc ce bienheureux Mâr Ma‘în était originaire de la ville de Sînjar en Perse et il avait été éduqué abondamment dans les lettres et dans la science des mages."1
