“ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܕܫܡܗ ܝܘܢܟܝܪ ܕܥܬܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܣܓܝ ܒܕܚܠܬ ܐܠܗܐ. ܘܡܩܪܒ ܗܘܐ ܩܘܪ̈ܒܢܘܗܝ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܥܦܐ. ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܕܗܢܐ ܝܬܝܪܐ ܕܡܩܪܒ ܐܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܚܠܦ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ.”

“Ce fut en effet celui-là à qui il fut révélé par l’Esprit Saint qu’il ne goûterait pas la mort jusqu’à ce qu’il voie le Seigneur Christ en chair. Or moi, Jacques, j’ai écrit ce livre alors qu’il y avait des troubles à Jérusalem, quand Hérode mourut d’une mort amère et je me retirai en un lieu désert jusqu’à la fin des troubles à Jérusalem. Or je loue le Seigneur qui m’a donné la sagesse pour écrire ce livre.”
