Almalīq - [ Syriac Not Available ]

http://syriaca.org/place/796
A Central Asian city of the Ili region, major settlement of eastern Turkestan under Mongol rule. It became an important urban and commercial center within the Chaghatayid world. In the context of Syriac Christianity, Almaliq is known from Christian inscriptions and broader Church of the East activity in Central Asia, showing that the ecclesiastical and mercantile networks tied to China extended well beyond the formal borders of the Chinese state.6
