Lingwu - [ Syriac Not Available ]

A frontier region of northwestern China, associated in premodern usage with the Ningxia area, near the Gansu corridor. It held strategic importance in the northwest as a military and administrative zone tied to Tangut and Tang frontier politics. In the context of Syriac Christianity, literary evidence suggests that monasteries of Jingjiao existed in Lingwu and nearby counties, showing that Christian institutions had spread into the northwestern borderlands and not only the metropolitan centers.3
