Ganzhou - [ Syriac Not Available ]

A frontier administrative city in the Hexi Corridor of Gansu, gateway between China proper and Central Asia, connected to Ningxia and northwestern trade routes. It functioned as both a military outpost and commercial node, with officials overseeing regional trade including pharmaceuticals sourced from Dunhuang. Syriac Christian monks referred to as “Persian monks” served as government officials in Ganzhou and engaged in state-supervised trade, confirming the Xi’an Stele’s implication of Christian communities integrated into frontier commerce.3
