Kashgar - [ Syriac Not Available ]

A major oasis city in the western Tarim Basin, strategic crossroads of Central Asian trade routes, in present-day Xinjiang. It operated as a commercial and administrative center whose jurisdiction extended over surrounding Christian settlements, making it a logical base for regional ecclesiastical organization. Kashgar likely served as an episcopal seat overseeing communities in Turfan, Qočo, and Shuipang near Bulayïq, where archaeological remains of churches and manuscripts reveal a structured Church of the East network.6
