“في قلعة جبل سينا وهو لليونان دير عظيم قديم انشأه القيصر يوسطنيان الاول آهل بخمسة عشر راهباً وفيه خزانة كتب سريانية نفيسة قديمة يناهز عددها 280 مصحفاً اكثرها مخطوط بالقلمين الاسطرنجيلي والملكي وهو كرسي اسقفي يقيم مطرانه في القاهرة.”4

It has a magnificent library, containing about 280 old Syriac manuscripts, most of which are written in the Estrangelo and Malkite scripts. It is also a bishopric seat whose metropolitan resides in Cairo.”5
