The first concerns the determination of the unit to be analysed. The division into two books is a later product of the Latin tradition. In reality, however, we are faced with a single book entitled Ezra. The reader can, therefore, expect that there is a single protagonist. Indeed, some alterations in the Syriac version show that the single protagonist of the book is always Ezra (whose name is added in Neh 6,7). The second reflection regards the perception and awareness which the ancients had of the composition or structure of a text. The Syriac translator shows a particular sensibility in treating cases of parallelism. He preserves many parallelisms already there in the Hebrew text but also creates new ones. However, other parallelisms present in the Hebrew are destroyed or else replaced by a new parallelism in Syriac.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
