The complex is described in detail and contextualised within the wider sphere of Late Antique Northern Mesopotamian architecture. In light of the comparisons, a mid-sixth century date is suggested for the church, which may have been part of a monastic complex. Some textual evidence has also been presented to suggest that this possible monastery may have been the Monastery of Phesīlthā of Jacob Baradaeus (d. 578), an important figure of West-Syriac Christianity.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
