Though these latter works cannot be examined in detail for obvious reasons, their record is essential for understanding the development of Syriac ecclesiastical history. This article examines one important East Syriac ecclesiastical work – namely, ‘Abdisho‘ bar Brikha’s (d. 1318) <i>Catalogue of Books</i> – and presents its listed Greek and Syriac works that have not survived. Brief mention will also be made of select Greek and Syriac works in the <i>Catalogue </i>that may or may not be lost, depending on whether one agrees or disagrees with particular propositions advanced in connection to these works.
