The material culture of Central Asian Christians was reflected in the construction of church and monastery buildings, in funeral rites, numismatics, epigraphy, objects of temple cult and personal piety — in particular, body crosses and cross pendants. A general overview of crosses and pendants and their primary typology shows the mutual influence and close interaction of the Christian communities of Merv, Sogdiana, Khorezm, Chach, Ustrushana and South-Western Semirechye throughout the history of the existence of Christianity in these territories.
