The homily in question is divided into seven parts, wherein the value of study is praised and laziness condemned. One part of the text takes the form of a dialogue between a master and his disciple, with the master emphasizing the need to read the Scriptures and to study diligently without being discouraged by difficulties or distractions. In addition to providing the translation of the homily, the article offers a brief reflection on the relevance of the message of Isaac of Antioch, in the context of Franciscan thought on study.
